Opti-Behavior tracks visitors with small JavaScript files served by your own site. They send data only to your WordPress, never to a third-party server.
What it collects #
| Data | Used for |
|---|---|
| Pages viewed and the order between them | Traffic, funnels, user journeys |
| Clicks (with the element clicked), mouse movement, scroll depth, time on page | Heatmaps, engagement, Smart Insights |
| Device type, browser, operating system, screen size | Device reports, heatmap views |
| Referrer and UTM parameters | Traffic sources and campaigns |
| Country and city (Full Tracking, after consent) | Geography reports |
| With Pro: recording events, script errors, friction, page speed, form interactions | Recordings, Errors & Performance, Form Analytics |
What it never collects #
- What visitors type in form fields, passwords or payment details – Form Analytics measures interactions, not values.
- In Anonymous Mode: no cookie, no stored IP address and no geolocation call – visitors are counted with a non-personal daily hash.
- Nothing is sent to Opti-Behavior or to any external service.
How it stays fast #
- Trackers are minified and loaded with
defer: they never block the page from rendering. - Events are sent in small batches a few seconds after the interaction (3 seconds by default).
- The session recorder (Pro) starts after the page has loaded, or at the first tap or key press, and uses a record-only build of about 68 KB.
- Tracker URLs are versioned by file date, so page caches and CDNs refresh them after an update.
Consent #
In Full Tracking mode, visits are first counted cookie-free, like Anonymous Mode. Cookies, the persistent visitor ID and geolocation start only after the visitor accepts the consent banner. Pro recordings, error and form tracking send nothing until consent is given.
Cache and optimisation plugins #
Opti-Behavior registers its scripts with common optimisers so they are not delayed or merged, refreshes its security token when a cached page is served, and warns you when a tracker seems blocked (Setup check and an admin notice).
Expected result #
You know what is recorded, what is not, and why the tracker does not slow your pages.
FAQ #
Are bots tracked? #
Known bots, crawlers and AI fetchers are detected and kept out of your statistics. See Traffic classification.
Can I exclude my own IP or my team? #
Yes: Settings → Traffic & Behavior → Excluded IP Addresses, and Admin Tracking for logged-in admins.
Does an ad blocker stop it? #
Usually not, because the script comes from your own domain. Some privacy extensions can still block some requests.
