Path depth controls how many steps the journey diagram shows. This article explains the depth control and the readability options.

Requirements #

  • Plan: Opti-Behavior Pro

Setting the depth #

  1. Go to Opti-Behavior → User Journeys.
  2. Open the Steps control and choose how many steps to display (typically 3 to 7; the default is 5).
  3. Fewer steps give a clearer high-level view; more steps reveal deeper navigation.
Steps selector on the User Journeys page open to show the path depth options from 3 Steps to 7 Steps with 5 Steps selected

Keeping it readable #

  • Collapse threshold — hides flows below a percentage (default 1%) so rare paths do not clutter the diagram; set to Show All to reveal everything.
  • Focus Mode — a progressive view that highlights the path you follow.

Expected result #

The Sankey diagram redraws at the chosen depth, with minor flows collapsed for clarity.

FAQ #

Which depth should I start with? #

Start at the default of 5 steps, then reduce for an overview or increase to trace deeper paths.
