First 10 minutes: verify tracking is working

1 min read

After activation, use these checks to confirm Opti-Behavior is recording visits. This takes about ten minutes and needs no configuration.

Requirements #

  • Opti-Behavior installed and activated
  • Onboarding consent completed

Step 1: Browse your own site #

Open your site’s front end in a normal browser tab and visit two or three pages. This generates a session.

Step 2: Read the Frontend Stats Bar #

While logged in as an administrator, Opti-Behavior can show a small admin-only overlay on the front end with live counts. If you do not see it, enable it at WP Admin → Opti-Behavior → Settings → Frontend Stats Bar. Only administrators see this bar; visitors never do.

Step 3: Watch the Dashboard #

  1. Go to WP Admin → Opti-Behavior → Dashboard.
  2. Look at the live tracking widgets for active sessions and today’s pageviews.
  3. Refresh after a minute; your test visit should be counted.

Expected result #

Your test session appears on the Dashboard and, if enabled, the Frontend Stats Bar shows a non-zero live count.

Troubleshooting #

  • No sessions: a caching plugin may serve stale HTML. Clear the cache and re-test.
  • Your own visits are missing: some traffic is classified as bot or filtered; test in a normal (non-headless) browser.
  • Stats Bar hidden: confirm it is enabled in Settings and that you are logged in as an admin.

FAQ #

Why is my visit counted as a returning visitor? #

Opti-Behavior identifies returning visitors without cookies, so repeat visits from the same device are recognized.
