The free version installs like any WordPress plugin. No account and no licence key are needed.

Install from your dashboard #
- Go to WP Admin → Plugins → Add New Plugin.
- Search for Opti-Behavior.
- On the Opti-Behavior card, click Install Now, then Activate.
No access to the plugin directory? Download the ZIP from wordpress.org/plugins/opti-behavior and use Plugins → Add New Plugin → Upload Plugin.
Complete the welcome screen #
On first activation Opti-Behavior opens a one-time welcome screen. It asks you to confirm that you want to start collecting analytics and offers the optional 6-month Pro trial – you can skip it and stay on Free.
A short setup guide then asks what you want to achieve and ends on the How it works page. Its Setup check card tells you, with a button for each item:
- whether visits are received,
- whether a caching or optimisation plugin blocks a tracker,
- whether your own visits are counted (useful for testing; two days after installation Opti-Behavior offers to exclude them).
Choose your privacy mode #
Opti-Behavior starts in the privacy mode chosen during setup. Anonymous Mode sets no cookie; Full Tracking is more precise but needs consent. You can change it any time in Settings → Privacy & GDPR – see Anonymous Mode vs Full Tracking.
If you use a cache plugin #
Clear your page cache once after activation, so cached pages include the tracker. Opti-Behavior already tells the common optimisers not to delay or merge its scripts; see Cache plugin compatibility.
Expected result #
Opti-Behavior appears in the admin menu. Within minutes, visits appear on the Traffic page and the Setup check turns green.
Troubleshooting #
- Plugin not found in search – your server may not reach WordPress.org; upload the ZIP instead.
- Activation fails – check your PHP version (7.4 minimum).
- No data after activation – follow First 10 minutes: verify tracking.
FAQ #
Do I need an account? #
No. The free version works without any account. The Pro trial asks for an email to send the licence.
Can I install Pro directly? #
Pro is an add-on: install and activate the free plugin first, then Pro. See Install and activate Pro.
