How to install the free plugin from WordPress.org

1 min read

This guide installs the free Opti-Behavior plugin from the WordPress.org directory and walks through the one-time onboarding screen. No account or license is required for the free version.

Requirements #

  • WordPress 5.8 or newer
  • PHP 7.4 or newer
  • An administrator account (manage_options capability)

Install from your dashboard #

  1. Go to WP Admin → Plugins → Add New.
  2. In the search box, type Opti-Behavior.
  3. On the Opti-Behavior card, click Install Now.
  4. When installation finishes, click Activate.

Complete onboarding #

On first activation, Opti-Behavior opens a welcome screen. This one-time onboarding does two things:

  1. Asks you to confirm consent to start collecting anonymous analytics on your site.
  2. Offers an optional free 6-month Pro trial — you can skip this and stay on Free.

Confirm consent to finish. Tracking begins immediately after activation.

Expected result #

Opti-Behavior appears in the admin sidebar, and the Dashboard page loads. Within a few minutes your own visits start to appear as sessions.

Troubleshooting #

  • Plugin not found in search: confirm your site can reach WordPress.org, or upload the ZIP via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
  • No data after activation: see the first-10-minutes verification guide below.

FAQ #

Do I need to buy anything to use the free plugin? #

No. The free plugin is fully functional without a license.

Can I start the Pro trial later? #

Yes. You can start the trial any time from the plugin, not only during onboarding.
