Enabling recordings and configuring max duration

1 min read

Requires Opti-Behavior Pro. Session Recordings are a Pro module. View pricing or start the 6-month free trial.

Session Recordings are off until you enable them. This article shows how to turn recordings on and tune the capture settings.

Requirements #

  • Plan: Opti-Behavior Pro
  • Access to Opti-Behavior → Settings (capability manage_options)

Steps #

  1. Go to WP Admin → Opti-Behavior → Settings → Session Recordings.
  2. Enable the Session Recordings toggle.
  3. Set Maximum recording duration. The value is in seconds and is clamped to the range 60–3600 (default 600 = 10 minutes). Sessions longer than this stop recording at the limit.
  4. Set the Sample rate if shown. This is the mouse-move sampling cadence (range 1–100, default 10); a lower number captures smoother cursor motion at the cost of larger recordings.
  5. Click Save Changes.

Controlling retention #

How long recordings are kept is governed by the Retention Period (1–730 days) under Settings → Storage Stats, plus the cleanup tools in the Danger Zone.

Expected result #

Within a few minutes of real visits, new sessions appear under Opti-Behavior → Recordings.

Troubleshooting #

  • No recordings appear: confirm the toggle is on, that you are not the only visitor (admins can be excluded), and that a consent banner is not blocking tracking.
  • Recordings cut short: raise the maximum duration.

FAQ #

Are admin users recorded? #

Only if admin tracking is enabled in settings; by default your own admin visits can be excluded.
